Information for the model

_You are getting body painted! For some, this is new and exciting, others of you may already have some experience. Since there are so many reasons for which you may get painted – party entertainment, personal photographs, promotional event (to name but a few) the following information is a general guideline to brief you on what to expect from being body painted and what is expected from you as the model.
How to prepare
If you are getting body painted, please exfoliate as much as possible. Also, depending on how much of your body will get painted you may need to remove hair from the underarms, bikini line and, if very hairy, other areas. Ask your body painter what is required in your case.
Please do not use any tanning products (creams or sprays) in the week prior to the body painting session, as this may cause a problem. If you did, please inform the artist immediately.
Make sure to moisturize your skin well during the days leading up to the body painting session, but DO NOT apply any lotion, cream, perfumes or other products the day of the painting. These products may interfere or react with the make up products that will be used to paint your skin.
The products that will be used are specifically designed for the use on the skin (more information on the products can be found here). However, if you have any known allergies or sensitivities to other cosmetic products and are concerned, please ask the body painter to perform a patch test PRIOR to the scheduled painting session.
We also need to know if you have a latex allergy. You may need to wear nipple covers or pasties depending on the venue and what is to be painted on you.
What to bring
Unless it is a private body painting session, you are in most cases required to wear a thong for a full body painting. The thong should be made from lycra or a lycra blend as this will have the best results when painted over, and should be either seamless or the string variety without any decoration or lace. If laws require the breasts to be clothed, please bring a strapless, seamless bra without decoration made from lycra or a lycra blend. Flesh colour is preferred for both the thong and the bra (if required) but make sure to check with the artist what is needed in your case.
Sometimes the location of an event is not the same location as the one where you get painted, in that case, bring a silky robe (the slippery fabric won’t rub off the paint) and slip on shoes to wear to protect the painting and cover you up during the transport to a location. Please note that the body paint can run and get smudged if it gets wet and rub off and wear out quicker in areas with more contact.
You may want to bring warm socks, a hat and mittens. This may sound funny, but you will loose a lot of body heat and get cold if you are standing still for hours (it can take 6 hours or longer if you get fully body painted).
You may also like to bring an I-pod or book to help pass the time.
Additionally you can bring food in form of snacks as we might not always be able to provide these.
Furthermore, bring some loose clothes that you can wear over the body painting on your way home.
Please bring a document that verifies your age (e.g. ID card/ drivers licence).
What to expect
Upon your arrival at the location, you will be asked to sign a model release form, so that I can take pictures of my work on you. If you are being painted for photographic purpose, the photographer will also ask you to sign a model release form. If you wish to take your own photos, please discuss this with me in advance.
I will make an effort to make the painting session as comfortable as possible for you. You will be given breaks between the different stages of the painting (especially during longer sessions) and drinks will be provided. For longer sessions, snacks may also be available.
Only you and the artist will be present when you get painted, so long as I have control of the venue. If you wish to bring someone along to keep you company, it is up to you unless the job dictates differently.
Application of the paint will be done with brushes or sponges and sometimes with the hands. An area that is already painted cannot be scratched or rubbed as this will damage the work so if you have an itch, tell me. I will handle it for you.
Furthermore, note that if you are getting fully body painted, you may not be able to go to the washroom once your lower regions have been painted. Depending on the reason you are being painted (performance, promotional work, competition) it may be impossible for you to use the washroom for several hours, so please use the last opportunity offered to you to relieve yourself and watch your intake of liquids.
Once you have been painted and are out in ‘public’ you will be photographed by a lot of people. If you are uncomfortable with this, now would be the time to rethink about being a body painting model.
